Sheep Shearer is inspired by what I see around the Santa Fe environs. I wanted to incorporate raw sheeps wool and colcha embroidery, both integral to Santa Fe’s history, into this piece. Repurposed materials:
Raw Churro sheep’s wool- Espanola, NM
Textiles- New Mexico Fiber Arts Center, Espanola, NM
Embroidery thread- Mom
Rosary- Reunity Resources, Santa Fe, NM
Burlap- Monterey Yoga Shala, Monterey, CA
Front, side and back angles, composed of churro sheep’s wool, metal mesh, colcha embroidered heart, paper cups cut into feathers and painted w acrylic. Stand was purchased at a neighborhood yard sale.
